Al-Malhem Foundation, media arm of al-Qaeda in Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) released a 45 minutes, 18 second interview with Anwar al-Awlaki. The interview was posted on jihadist forums on May 22 2010. Awlaki, who was dressed in traditional Yemeni cloth, was questioned about his relation with Nidal Hasan and Omar al-Farouk in addition to his views on jihad.
Awlaki praised his student, U.S. Army Major Nidal Hassan, accused of killing 13 people at Fort Hood last November, and described the shooting as an heroic and wonderful act. Asked about the attempt to kill civilians as in Omar al-Farouk mission, al-Awlaki justified killing civilians by citing Prophet Muhamed killing civilians in two occasions: al-Thaqif battle in which Muhamed shelled the city with the catapult "hat doesn't distinguish beteween man, woman and children" and the Bakzam night raid which resultes in a massacre of old, women and children. When the raiders returned to Muhamed base and informed him about what his men did, he said , in reference to the civilians killed, "They are form them".
